GRACE TO OVERCOME LIFE’S STORMS (II)

‘And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship …and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?’ (Mark 4:37-41 KJV)

Storms come when we face life’s contradictions. They could result from the conflicts of life; from diseases, and deaths. Storms may be spiritual attacks but in Christ we have the grace to overcome every storm. When storms come, how do you react? When some people face storms, they look for someone to blame, others bow out, some give up, while others become bitter. However, we must face every storm constructively.

BE STILL
I believe that when we face life’s storms, we must still our souls. In whatever forms the storms come, we must realize that God is omnipotent, He is sovereign, and He oversees every situation of life. When things happen to us that we cannot explain, we must tell our soul ‘BE STILL.’ God says, ‘Be still and know that I am God’ (Psalm 46:10). When the storms are overwhelming, bow your head in prayers and speak to the God above the storms. Worry is an antithesis of the Christian faith. Isaiah 26:3 says, ‘You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.’ Trust in the Lord today, and He will give you perfect peace amidst the storms.

SURRENDER TO JESUS
When the storms come, we must surrender to Jesus. That was what the disciples did. They went to Jesus and asked, ‘Do you not care that we are perishing?’ (Mark 4:38). I want to assure you that Jesus cares. Rather than fretting over the situation, surrender the problem to Jesus. In overcoming the storms of life, we may have tried the principles and the practices of men, but it is now time to surrender to the person of Christ. The solution to life’s storms is not logic or formula, it is neither tactics nor brain work; it is JESUS. Do you believe in Jesus? Do you live for Jesus? Sometimes we get so familiar with our spirituality that we miss out what Christianity is all about. It’s all about Jesus. Jesus saves, He delivers and He gives the power to overcome.

I want to encourage you today to give your life to Jesus. When you do, you will experience the miraculous hands of God and you will ride with faith above your storms.
