GOD WILL USE YOU

GOD WILL USE YOU

‘Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!’ (Isaiah 6:8)

Today, I will be writing on the vessel God will use for His work. God is set to do great and mighty things in our lives, ministries and nation this year, but He has need of you. God is in need of a vessel that will fulfil His mandate and do His will and counsel on earth. What characterizes the vessel that God will use?

1. GOD USES A VESSEL THAT IS UNFIT
The scripture is full of imperfect people who submitted to the mighty hands of God and God did great and powerful things through them. No one is perfect. God doesn’t wait to perfect you before He sets you in motion for His work. God specializes in using the misfit, the unqualified, the undeserving to accomplish His purpose. Abraham was a liar, Moses was a short-tempered stutterer, David was an adulterer and a murderer, David’s men were a bunch of vagabonds, and Paul had a thorn in the flesh. These were men with shortcomings yet God used them mightily. Jesus was not attractive: ‘…He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him,’ (Isaiah 53:2) yet He was the Messiah. 1 Corinthians 1:27 says, ‘But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.’ God needs you today; do not let your physical or social characteristics, or the deeds of your past deter you from heeding His call. When you respond, God will greatly use you.

2. GOD USES A VESSEL THAT HAS UNDIVIDED LOYALTY TO HIM
Loyalty remains one of the cardinal virtues God requires of us. Proverbs 20:6 says, ‘Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?’ God is faithful and loyal and He demands loyalty from us. King Solomon advised his son, ‘My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.’ (Proverbs 3:1-3). For us to be vessels of God, we must be faithful and committed to God.

3. GOD WILL USE A VESSEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
God can use any situation for His glory. In 1 Samuel 14:6, ‘Jonathan said to the young man who carried his armor, ‘Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised. It may be that the LORD will work for us, for nothing can hinder the LORD from saving by many or by few’ (ESV). On that day, the Lord wrought a mighty victory for Israel. God used Moses’ stick to perform wonders. For David, it was five smooth stones and a slingshot; for you it can be your present situation. God is not under any restraints; He can use you in your current status, to do great things for His Kingdom. Do not sit back or give an excuse. God is ready to turn your ‘mess’ into His ‘message’, if only you will yield to Him.

God is prepared to show forth His power through you. Will you be a willing vessel? We will continue this series next week. I pray the Lord will bless and keep you in all your endeavours and grant you the grace to serve Him faithfully all your days.
